Boijmans van Beuningen acquires Rosso

De Museologue in Boijmans van Beuningen

Leading Rotterdam’s art museum Boijmans van Beuningen acquired a sculpture by Medardo Rosso. Femme a la voilette, crafted in 1923, now shimmers in the museum’s impressionist hall. The works of the post-impressionist sculptor are rare in the market, but the museum has connections with the previous owner: the Lauder Collection, owned by the son of Estée Lauder. Due to an exhibition in the museum earlier this year, where several of Rosso’s sculptures were displayed, Boijmans had the veiled lady in her presence for months. Now she keeps Degas’ famous ballet dancer company.

De Museologue already visited her. Read about my impression and some interesting backgrounds in the article
